Open to Girl Scouts (GS) - 9th - 12th Grade with Adult or Leader/s
This FREE workshop is open to GS in 9th - 12th grade with parent or guardian interested in learning to teach fishing skills and aquatic conservation concepts in classroom, community, or organization. The program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help Ambassadors successfully introduce youth and adults to fishing. Ideal for High School Bass Fishing Teams, youth fishing programs, youth group leaders, afterschool or camp staff, or youth interested in sharing their love of fishing.
After completing this workshop, Fishing's Future GS Ambassadors will help with Girl Scouts in State Parks on Sept 12th at Huntsville State Park. Volunteering in teaching attending GS how to tie fishing knots, casting, rules & Regulation during morning round robin session. All of this will be explained on Aug 29th
We would also like to do something special for the GS Ambassadors after the Sept 12 Program. We are calling it, "Bait to Plate"... lets catch something, learn to clean it and cook it.
What happens next after becoming Ambassador Certified:
1) GS Ambassadors with receive a Certificate & Patch
2) Work along side a Texas Parks & Wildlife Certified Instructor Volunteer (Parent or Guardian 18ys or older) and record their volunteer hours
3) Once the GS Ambassador turns 18 years old, will be asked to continue as a Texas Parks & Wildlife Certified Instructor Volunteer.
Adults taking this workshop will become a Texas Parks & Wildlife Certified Angler Ed Instructor Volunteer.
